Airborne Walk

Experience a special piece of history with us!

Every year in September, the region around Oosterbeek, Arnhem, and the Veluwe commemorates the Battle of Arnhem, part of Operation Market Garden in 1944. During the Airborne Commemorations, the courage and sacrifice of the thousands of Allied soldiers who fought for our freedom, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice, are honored.

The commemorations take place at various locations, including the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek, where relatives, veterans, and visitors gather for a moving ceremony. Flower laying, speeches, and moments of silence are also held – all in an atmosphere of gratitude, respect, and solidarity.

A special event during this period is the Airborne March on September 6th: the world’s largest one-day commemorative march. Thousands of participants walk a route through the beautiful landscape and past historical sites, in silence or conversation, but always with meaning.
