Winner Golden Herring 2025

Campers shared their most special memory of a Nature Campsite. Based on the entries, a jury determined the winner. This year, that consisted of Peter Rehwinkel, Iris Stolwijk of ANWB and Eelke Horselenberg, director of Stichting De Groene Koepel.

The win was thanks to this nostalgic entry:

‘On Landgoed Quadenoord, we stood with the tent in the middle of the forest for a long time. The first years still without showers, with water from the pump and with the famous wooden toilet cubicles with hearts in the door. We took lovely walks and beautiful cycling trips, including to De Hoge Veluwe National Park. The boys played endlessly in the woods and built many huts. The highlight of the day was the tour of Mr Koker, owner and manager, always dressed in green hunter’s clothing, in his big green Volvo station. In that car, on the passenger seat was a shotgun. While he chatted with us, the boys would peek through the car window at that exciting object and had hours of great stories again playing with branches and sticks. Without thinking, a hut was once built on one of the ancient burial mounds. Mr Koker didn’t like that so the hut was moved… place enough.’
